The UDC v 5.0 has been created after over a year of dedicated planning and conceptualization. We have tried to take care of all the grievances of participants/ officials this time around.
The Ultimate Desert Challenge v 5.0 will be divided into two parallel competitions – the UDC Off-road and UDC X-cross. While the UDC Off-road is our signature flagship off-roading competition comprising of around a dozen off-road stages (day and night) which will run over a span of 3 days, the X-cross is first-of-its-kind closed circuit rallying contest which will run consecutive laps for over 150 kms, with designated start, stop, and pit-stop areas. Scheduling is such that a participant can participate in either one of the two, or both simultaneously. In the true spirit of the Ultimate Desert Challenge, both Offroad and X-cross competitions will run on only wild desert tracks, without any artificial obstructions. The special stages have been re-mapped in order to bring-in freshness to the competition, diverting it from its conventional terrains in the mines as well as the obstacle course in the stadium.
On popular demand, the ‘UDC Off-road’ will run a Zero Car in all special stages. The Zero Car will be driven by former UDC Champion Narayan Balan. All vehicles, custom-mod as well as street-legal, are allowed to run in the UDC Off-road, separated by a well-designed set of classes. The UDC X-cross is India’s first Closed Circuit Rally. The track has been specially designed after thorough reconnaissance to provide adequate space for competition vehicles to start in short interim, and over-take each other in midst of the track. The UDC X-Cross will grant admission to only Rally-prepared vehicles, the specifications of which can be read in the supplementary regulations guidebook. The main event of X-Cross shall be preceded by a controlled recce for participants, in order to help them jot down individual pace notes. The X-cross will also have a short SSS to decide the start order for the main event.
Entry to the competition has been capped at 35 entries for UDC Off-road and 15 entries for UDC X-Cross.
The Ultimate Desert Challenge V 5.0 can truly be called Reboot as the popular franchise has substantially face-lifted its format! Stay tuned-in to this space to know what’s more is in store.
